Valerian is used for many things but the roots have been used as a medicine since the Ancient Greek times. It seemed that it could have been used as a remedy for insomnia at that time, which is something that it is used for still now. There is quite a range of chemicals in the root and so when choosing a supplement it is probably better to go for a standardised form. You will then know exactly what you are taking and in what quantities.

Asthma is a condition which normally has to be treated by prescribed medication. It sometimes needs to be taken regularly and sometimes just when the condition is bad, depending on the severity of the condition. There are herbal remedies which can be taken for it as well, but these should only be taken when approved by your medical practitioner and alongside the medication that has been prescribed.

There are different varieties of echinacea and some are grown for their beautiful flowers and others for their medicinal benefits. Echinacea products often contain different parts of the plant and different species of plant, sometimes being an extract and sometimes being the expressed juice and the chemical composition of these different things is very different.
